So, Today has been eventful for me. I slept in until about noon, which I must say is a record latley. I hung out for a bit, and then, Boyfriend and I had a fight about money, naturally. And then he went to pick up some lunch, about midway through our lunch, he said he started feeling sick, and went to lie down. 2 hours later, he was full on SICK, we're talking both ends here people. We had plans to go bowling tonight with some friends, and I still wanted to get in a trip to Sephora before we left, so I headed out to Sephora while he napped, and I told him I'd stop and get his normal "sick provisions" while I was out (sprite, popcicles, and mini eclairs). By the time I had gotten back from the mall and the grocery, he was in even worse shape. So, I was going to go bowling without him, but now, not so much. So instead, I will blog about my trip to Sephora, and why I'm not allowed back for at least a month.
So, The haul:
I went in for one simple thing RareMinerals Cleanser, and then I didn't even buy it! Instead I picked up DDF Blemish Foaming Cleanser
It only has 1% Salicylic Acid, so i tlooks like it wont dry me out like other acne cleansers do, but, we'll see how that goes, the H2O+ that I've been using is very drying without helping any of the acne I've been getting in my oilier areas. Hopefully when I combine this with my arsenal of moisturizers I'll be able to keep the dry scales, and the acne at by at the same time. HOPEFULLY.
Next I picked up Anastasia's Brow Enhancing Serum:
I've been Overplucking latley, and this claims to help sparse brows fill back in. Now that my hair is dark again, I can aford to have thick full brows, and I think I want to go for the Brooke Sheilds style. At least that should cut down the time i spend on brow maintenance.
After that, I grabbed Feausion Beauty's Lash Fusion which claims to have proteins and such, to actually improove lash health.
26 dollars is cheap if this actually help with lash growth, certainly cheaper than the 120 bucks a month it would take to keep a stock of Latisse handy. I think there will be a review forthcoming on this product. Keep a look out for that.
Also, at the last second, I threw in Korres Lip Butter in Pomegranate, for good measure.
Now, anyone who shops Sephora with any regularity knows about the "Beauty Bank" Program. For every dollar you spend, pretax, you get a point, when your beauty bank reaches 100 points, you get a deluxe sample, and girls, the samples most of the time, are GOOD. Last week, they were featuring Dior HydraAction Visible Defence. After trying this moisturizer, I knew I wanted more, but it's about 60 dollars for a 1.8 oz jar, and the samples being offered are a little over a half an oz. So, when I was told my beauty bank was at over 400 points today, I got two more of those, making about one whole full sized amount, all for free. Man, do I ever love perks. I also picked up one each of the other samples, a coconut scented body buter (Almost 2 oz worth too!) because I'm a sucker for coconut, And a Make Up Forever gloss.
So, I should also mention that I'm going to have a self imposed ban of Sephora now for the month of February. When I walked in, there were two sales people who recognized me right away, and the girl who was checking me out as I left recognized me as well. Now, one salesperson knowing you as a regular is one thing, BUT THREE? I think it's time for a break. Depending on how well this new cleanser works (I've been having so much trouble finding something i like), this should be easy, I have everything that I could possibly need, for now.
Okay, seeing as I'm indoors for the rest of the night, I'm gunna feed and walk the dog, and try out my new facewash. Then I'm gunna watch Igor (yes, the animated movie) because it's due back to blockbuster tomorrow.

So, Amber tagged me to do this, but forgot to give me a letter, so, since her letter was A, I'm gunna go with the first letter of your first name theme! And I pick R. You post ten things you love that begin with your assigned letter. When people comment on your list, you give them a letter, and the chain continues on and on. So, lurkers, make yourself known if you want a letter! :D
And Here Goes
1) Robin C. aka My Momma!
Here's a picture of Her, Her Sister, and finally Me (Left ro tight), at the familly reunion back in October.
And Here Goes
1) Robin C. aka My Momma!
Here's a picture of Her, Her Sister, and finally Me (Left ro tight), at the familly reunion back in October.
My mom has shaped so much of who I am today. Without her I wouldn't be nearly as strong, independent or fun as I am today. We are incredibly close, and she is one of my best friends. We go shopping together, play hooky, and tell each other pretty much everything. She is my rock.
2) RSS feeds
I only recently discovered this. BUT I LOVE IT. I can follow all my blogs, from all different platforms right in google. I go to work every morning, and check my google reader, and it looks to the IT guys like I'm only checking one single page, when in reality, I'm reading 30 or 40 posts from my favorite blogs. LOVE IT.
3)RareMinerals(TM) Purely Nourishing Facial Moisturizer
I have tried a lot of skin care product in my lifetime. I have this rare breed of skin, it's combination, but the dry parts are in the center of my face, and the oily parts on the edges. This moisturizer has a lux feeling to it, and makes my dry skin feel downright silky, and the oily parts feel just the same. IT IS MAGIC. that is my conclusion. I like the whole Rareminerals/Bare Minerals/Bare Essentials line of product. I've pretty much essentially stopped using any other brands of makeup, and am going to switch over to the whole skin care line, once i finish off this tube of H2O+ cleanser that isn't really working. I will still hover, use the Phillosophy Microdelivery Peel, because it rocks.
4) Rhinestones.
I love me some bling. We all know this. THose who know me well, know that I painstakingly glued rhinestones in a cute cute pattern all over my sidekick, back when I had a sidekick. if it were socially acceptable to do this to my blackberry as an engineer, I would, BUT it's not... so I leave the bling at home. In an unrelated story, I want to buy this mouse and calculator, but I can't find the site that sells them... only this picture.
5) Rainy Days.
Now, I love the sunny days when I can cruise in the convertible and live it up. But I also love staying inside, and watching rain fall, and the fresh start that rain always brings. plus, I think rainy days (especially down here, where it frequently rains and is sunny at the same time) are nice to look at.
6) Raw Veggies.
So, recently, I gave up meat (yes, again) due to the crazy times it puts my tummy through. SO, I've been eating a lot of veggies. and I'm lazy, so, often times, i simply cut up zucchini, or carrots, or cukes, and nom on those. And it's delicious.
7) Roses.
Boyfriend doesn't quite understand this (I'm interpolating based on the data. I've received roses twice in the 4 and a half years we've been dating, despite the fact that I've openly and blatantly said "BUY ME MORE FLOWERS, DAMNIT.") I love getting roses. I know they are expensive, but, that's the point, it makes me feel like i'm worth it.
8) Renoir
My favorite of the french impressionists. I LOVE Le déjeuner des canotiers (above). It makes me with that I lived in Paris in the late 1800's. Perhaps in a former life, I did, and that is what draws me to this work so much. But the bottom line is that I love it.
9) Radio on the internet.
This one is kind of cheating, because, I want to say that i love Slacker Radio, and Pandora. It's a great way to hear new music, and I like that you can skip songs you don't like. Sometimes, I'll just put it on, and listen all day long, giving a yes or no to each song, and am amazed at the things it recomends to me. It's almost always something i love, once i get the stations customized to my tastes.
10)READERS!
This is kind of cheating too, because what I mean is, my friends. But i don't care. the people who read this blog are my friends. and i LOVE my friends. And even though Amber and I both look nekkid in this picture, it reminds me of the fun times we had, being 20, drinking before we got to the bar, and then dancing our asses off. I mean, we still have fun times now, but that was a completley carefree and extra fun time in our lives.
Well, there you have it. 10 things. Now, I need to get around to watching all of my Tivoed shows from the week, and playing video games. I love having Fridays off.

Stinky Feet
So, one thing I don't like about my job, is that I have to wear steel toed workboots each and everytime I go out into the plant.
Workboots are not cute.
So this means I have to change my shoes in order to do my outdoors work.
Now, for people that know me, they know I have stinky freaking feat. The words "moldy dank basement" have been used to describe the smell.
Anyway, my point is, that I hate that when I come back and change into cute shoes, my office smells. BUT today, I learned how to open up the window in my office, so... it's not so bad.

So, I didn't post yet today, and I want to put off going outside, so, I guess now is as good a time to post as any.
I was thinking this morning, that I would love to have one of those blogs that lots of people read. I would have to anonymous in it of course, but, it would be great to have bunches of random followers checking to see what I have to say each morning. Not that I don't appreciate the people (or person) who reads this blog, it'd just be nice to have some sort of blog like "Working Girl" here on blogger, or something to that effect. But what would i blog about? I have no idea really, I'm just not that interesting. If Amber lived near-by we could blog about adventures in shopping, but the adventures are far too few latley. :( There's got to be something more i can blog about than "and this is what i did today." right?
Anyway... last night was my puppy's first birthday, so we celebrated that, and then I went to bed.
Exciting, i know.

Dear Amber,
These are both located within 20 minutes of my apartment complex, as well, as many afforable (slash rentable) homes.
It only snows here once every 6 or so years, and we have a mall with a THREE story Forever 21.
I'm just sayin'
Love,
Rachel
So, Eh.
So, today, I overslept big time.
I didn't make it into work until 8 (I'm normally here by 7), and my face is bare, and the contacts are not in. I guess at least I get to show off my fun new (PURPLE) glasses. And my boss has apparently taken the day off, so it might not be such a big deal that I was late.
I don't really feel like going outside, so i hope it's raining this afternoon, but, the chance of rain is only like 20%. I don't know, it could, it's definitley getting cloudyer than it was this morning. I don't have much i can do while hanging out inside.
Okay, i'm off to find a dispersion modeling program, and some valve data.
Well, My new diet is interesting thus far.
Today for lunch i had brown rice with chickpeas and spinach, and i learned, that... if I'm ever constipated, eat brown rice with chickpeas and spinach.
Also, I have accomplished next to nothing so far at work today.
i should go outside and walk down some lines, but I'm not sure if i'm done with the bathroom.
Gross, I know, but... eh, I don't care.

So, I figured I'd make an "all about Rachel" post, for new visitors to read and figure out if they like me or not, I suppose.
Anyway. I spent most of my childhood in one of two places: Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Oxford, Ohio. Baton Rouge always felt more like home, and Oxford never really felt like a place i "hung my hat" so to speak. I think the reason that I was in Oxford, is because one day I would eventually find one of my closest and bestest friends within the halls of that high school. (She has a blog too, located over at Amber Lane ..) So, Oxford served it's purpose in my life, and I headed 2 hours north to go to college at THE Ohio State University.
I spent 6 years learning, living and changing up there. I went from Chemistry loving, Engineer to be nerd, to English major, and then back again. Along with my degree and minors, I learned exactly why you should never accept a beer you didn't pour yourself at a frat party, and all I ever wanted to know about how to ruin your credit by taking out 4 credit cards and then going nuts one summer on sparkly shoes, and cover charges at the bar. I graduated in June 2008, and made the decision to come back to Baton Rouge. My boyfriend followed me down, and we brought our Chihuahua Charlie.
Along the way, I came to be the person that I am today. I am in constant contrast to everything people think that I am. I wear makeup and read comic books. I wear steel-toed boots to work, but wear the tallest of stilettos on the weekends. I know the latest trends on the catwalks, even if I don't plan on following them. I love to take pictures, but I will never really consider myself a photographer. I have 2 closets just for my own clothes, and one contains mostly shoes and purses. I don't like meat. I own more than 300 movies. I love blues music, and I've played guitar for over 10 years. I am terrified of heights, clowns, zombies, and tornadoes. I laugh loudly. I'm am very loyal to my friends and family. I come from a large family, and have 7 direct first cousins, and dozens of second third and completely unrelated "cousins" that I'm just as close with. As a kid, if one of us was in a fight, all of us were in that fight. (I say as a kid, but in reality, in October, 4 of us were almost in a fight at a bar when some chick told my cousin to back up "if you know what's best", and earlier that night the boys were almost in a fight when some guy hit on a cousin's wife). I'm lucky enough to have five people to consider my best friends: My mom, My Cousin Rose (who is, and will probably always be, even with sisters-in-law, the closest thing to a sister in my life), Amber, and Liz (who I met on my VERY first day of college, we lived down the hall from each other for two year in the dorms, then were roomates for two, and later when I moved in with boyfriend, she moved into the apartment below us), And of course Boyfriend.
Okay, hopefully, this gives you some insight as to who and what I am. There's more I could say, but i'll leave that for later.

This is a post just made to define all of the fun nicknames I use in the blog, I'll do my best to link to it whenever I can, but I probably wont do a very good job of that.
I will however do a good job updating it with all of the nicknames I give to the people around me.
Boyfriend: Prett self explanitory. We've been dating since November 2004 and as of yet... no ring, much to my chagrin. We met when I lived in Ohio, and when it came time for me to move home to Louisiana, he packed up his computer, and came along for the ride. We have a Chihuahua named Charlie, and we're pretty much dorks.
Amber: One of my best friends. We met in high school, and clicked straight away. He have a lot of crazy nights, and inside jokes about those crazy nights of the past, and we're pretty much awesome. I totally copied my blog URL from her, she was the original. Amber isn't a nickname PS, she has a blog and you should totally read it.
Muscles: Personal Trainer. He likes to make me work my ass off.
